Why is sin-debt the myopic vision of the church at large today? Could the suffering, crucifixion, and death of Jesus mean even more than paying for my/our sins. I am not saying that is not a part of it because I believe it is however sometimes I think it is hard to see the forest through the trees. Here are the questions I would like considered:

Is it possible that by suffering and dying  the Trinity was wanting to enter into our human pain and misery in a way the creator could not have known apart from experience? Think about the abuse verbal, physical, spiritual, neglect, abandonment, and sexual (he most likely hung naked).  This shows a solidarity with human suffering we rarely hear. Rather we hear how the Father wanted to have his Son abused to pay a debt. There is no way I a can see it that way.

In  Psalm 22 it says ” My, My God why have you forsaken me” the same words Jesus said from the cross. Here is another question. Did Father really forsake Jesus? Or as a man did he feel forsaken?

For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. 2 Cor 5:19

If God was in Christ how could be apart from him? I love this mystery of the Trinity.

Maybe this is the mystery of Good Friday- Easter is so much better than what we have been sold. I believe it is and it inspires me to live more in the Joy of being His kid knowing he knows my ups and downs and the suffering in the world. I also think it almost answers the question of why He doesn’t stop the suffering in the world. If He stopped it he He couldn’t enter into it with us  and truly know our pain. Oh how he loves us!
